The Rijksmuseum is the museum of the Netherlands. We tell the story of 800 years of Dutch history from 1200 to the present. We also organize several exhibitions per year from our own collection and with (inter)national loans.

The Moco Museum (Modern Contemporary) aims to introduce a broad and young target group in Amsterdam to works by international greats in the art world such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Banksy, JR, KAWS, Keith Haring, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Yayoi Kusama, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, Studio Irma and many more!

Right next to the Central Station is one of the most modern architectural highlights of Amsterdam. NEMO Science Museum, the large, green building houses the largest science museum in the Netherlands. The building was designed by the famous Italian architect Renzo Piano. From the roof square you can admire a magnificent view of Amsterdam.

The Stedelijk Museum - Modern and Contemporary Art and Design, located on Museumplein in Amsterdam, is the largest museum of modern and contemporary art in the Netherlands. The historic red-brick museum building dates from 1895 and the museum's collection includes exceptional works of art by world-famous modern artists, including Dutch artists from the 20th century.

Timekeeping is at the heart of science and technology, and this museum pays homage to it with its unique focus on the craft of the clockmaker. Travel back in time and marvel at animated clocks depicting themes that are typical of the historical Zaan region, such as spinning windmills or whaling scenes. The museum proudly presents the rich Dutch heritage of beautiful and intricate timekeepers stemming from the Dutch Golden Age.

The Muiderslot - nowadays also known as Amsterdam Castle Muiderslot - is one of the most famous castles in the Netherlands. The square castle with its characteristic round corner towers and moat was founded by Floris V. shortly after 1285 and restored from 1895-1910.

The striking architecture of the Eye Filmmuseum made it quickly become one of Amsterdam’s modern icons. Situated on the northern bank of the River IJ, just opposite Central Station, this cinema, film museum, café/restaurant and cutting-edge event location is a must-see. Eye Filmmuseum is free to visit with the I amsterdam City Card, but for some of the exhibitions there is an additional surcharge.

Verwey Museum Haarlem is the city museum of Haarlem and Zuid-Kennemerland that, in addition to history, also shows work by Haarlem artists.

The Zaans Museum tells the story of daily life in the Zaan region over the centuries. The Zaan was one of the oldest industrial areas in Europe, and wind and water played an essential role in its success. The museum is located in Zaanse Schans in a modern building with an industrial atmosphere.

The Czar Peter House is a humble dwelling that famously housed Peter the Great during his first eight days in the Netherlands. In the 17th century, the area around what is now known as Zaandam was a renowned shipbuilding district, and Peter had visited the region to learn about Dutch techniques. Fittingly, the old wooden house in which he slept was constructed from repurposed ship materials.

The Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen brings to life the stories of people who used to live around the former Zuiderzee. Indoor Museum The Indoor Museum is the treasure house of the Zuiderzee; here the various collections are presented with a modern approach. Discover everything there is to know about the traditional Dutch craft of sailcloth and windmill cloth weaving at the Weaver’s House at Zaanse Schans. You can take a seat behind the loom, grab some rest in the box bed and meet the weavers in their traditional costume. The Weaver’s House served as a weaving mill until the start of the twentieth century. In 2015, the house was reconstructed. It also houses a shop filled with unique gifts.

Step inside the enchanting Volendam Museum and be fascinated by the brand new exhibition that is completely dedicated to music from this century. Explore the evolution of genres. The Frans Hals Museum is Haarlem’s museum of fine arts. It houses the largest collection of Frans Hals paintings in the world, as well as works by other famous artists from Haarlem such as Judith Leyster, Cornelis van Haarlem and Jacob van Ruisdael. You’ll also discover an extensive collection of art from 1880 to the present day, including works by Isaac Israëls, Charley Toorop and Dana Lixenberg. Museum Het Schip is the Amsterdam School Museum about art, architecture and housing. The Museum is located in three fabulous housing complexes designed by the renowned architect Michel de Klerk in Amsterdam West.

The Geelvinck Pianola Museum is one of Amsterdam’s smallest museums, tucked away in the Jordaan district. Inside the museum, you will find numerous pianolas (player pianos), reproduction pianos and related objects. The museum archive has a collection of over 30,000 perforated paper music rolls, most of which can be played on the different instruments housed in the museum. Visit the Pianola Museum to learn more about the history and technology of these magical instruments that nearly play themselves.

A visit to the Museum of the Canals (Grachtenmuseum Amsterdam) is the perfect way to learn more about the history of Amsterdam’s Canal Ring. Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder is one of the oldest and most special museums in Amsterdam. Discover a rare, well-preserved canal house from the 17th century. Narrow corridors and stairs lead to historically furnished living areas, kitchens and cupboards and end in what is literally the highlight of the museum: a complete church in the attic.

Contemporary art photography in two 17th-century canal houses in Amsterdam. Huis Marseille is the first museum in the Netherlands dedicated entirely to photography as an art form. Rather than a traditional white-cube gallery, Huis Marseille embraces the character of its historic buildings. The Resistance Museum Junior in Amsterdam is the Netherlands' first children's museum about the history of the Second World War.

The Embassy of the Free Mind is a museum library in a historic building from 1622 located on the Keizersgracht in Amsterdam. It is a platform for free-thinking, inspired by the ideas of the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica Collection. The Cat Cabinet was founded in memory of the red cat John Pierpont Morgan (1966-1983). Throughout his life, this special cat was the idiosyncratic companion of Bob Meijer, the founder of the Cat Cabinet.

The Allard Pierson is the museum where you will be introduced to the collections of the University of Amsterdam. Walk through Egyptian antiquity and the Greek and Roman worlds. Museum Van Loon, the former house of the regent Van Loon family, is situated in the heart of the Amsterdam Canals. Willem van Loon was in 1602 co-founder of the Dutch East Indian Company. The house was designed in 1672 by architect Adriaen Dortsman. The first inhabitant of the house was Ferdinand Bol, a student of the famous painter Rembrandt. In the rooms one finds beautiful portraits, impressive pieces of furniture and silver and porcelain from different centuries. PLEASE NOTE: You can only pay with Card in the museum.
