The Luther Museum Amsterdam

Since 2019, the Luther Museum has been telling the unique story of the Lutheran community in Amsterdam and the Netherlands. We do this through Luther's tangible and intangible heritage, through contemporary art, literature and music - inspired by reformer Martin Luther, whom we would characterize in this day and age as an activist and influencer. Luther's legacy continues to inspire discussions about individual responsibility, religious freedom and the relationship between individual and authority in modern society.

Our monumental venue, with authentic eighteenth-century boardrooms and an atmospheric church hall, is an often undiscovered gem in Amsterdam. Visitors appreciate the building, a former old men and women's home, not only as a historical setting but also as an intrinsic part of the museum's story.

How to visit the Luther Museum with your City Card

It is not necessary to reserve a time slot to visit this location with your City Card. Make sure that your City Card is valid at the time of your visit.

Accessibility

To enter the museum, it is necessary to go up a natural stone staircase. This unfortunately makes the museum less accessible for visitors with physical disabilities. However, there is a lift that is big enough for a transport wheelchair. If you want to use this lift, you can ring the bell at the garden gate. Then one of the volunteers will come and assist you.
