It is not necessary to reserve a time slot to visit this location with your City Card. Make sure that your City Card is valid at the time of your visit.
Guided tour and around the castle
During one of the three free audio tours (1 in 9 languages and 2 in NL and ENG) included in the entrance fee, beautiful objects and paintings tell the history of life at the castle in the 17th century and the Middle Ages. One of the tours is specially made for children . Outside you can enjoy the view of the harbor of Muiden and the view of the former Zuiderzee. The plum orchard and the historic gardens landscaped in 17th century style are also worth a visit.
With children
For children from 5 to 11 years old, a scavenger hunt can be purchased at the ticket office (€ 2). Climb into the Westertoren and imagine what that was like wearing real armor or defend the castle in the Tower Route. This is part of the medieval, freely accessible route in the castle. There are special children's tours on Wednesday afternoons. Children are given the opportunity to hold a number of 'old' objects themselves.
The interior of the castle mainly focuses on the 17th century, the period in which the poet, writer and historian PC Hooft inhabited the castle. The castle museum is also perfect to visit with children!
