One of the year’s buzziest artists, Zeyne has had a breakout year. Fusing Arabic influences with pop sensibilities, her first full-length LP is a masterclass in the traditional and the modern. Check out ‘Balak’, a low-lit, trap-esque collaboration with Saint Levant that will earworm its way into your head. If you’ve not heard of her yet, you will soon.

Four albums down and endless singles, and New Zealand alt-pop band Yumi Zouma remain darlings of the indie-pop scene. Known for their fuzzy, shoegaze sounds and earworm melodies, they’re a perfect soundtrack to those days when the sun finally starts to come out. Catch them at Tolhuistuin for an intimate gig – you’re sure to leave with songs stuck in your head and some excellent merch too.

Little Mix’s breakout star, JADE, is a name in her own right. Fusing whipsmart production with autobiographical lyricism, JADE’s first LP, THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY! was released to critical acclaim, including the ‘Angel of My Dreams’, a gorgeous pop behemoth that remains one of the most ambitious debut singles of the past few years. Catch her in Amsterdam’s church of pop with her own song ‘Church’ this spring and expect to find a new musical goddess to worship.

If you like: Noah Kahan, Medium Build

Samuel Holden Jaffe, otherwise known as Del Water Gap, has mastered the sound of careless abandon with generational despair. While that might not initially sound like the kind of music you’d spend a night listening to, there’s real optimism and euphoria in his music; all churning guitars, propulsive percussion and soaring vocals. With LP titles likeI Mss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet and songs like ‘Beach House’, there’s plenty here that should satisfy any millennial still processing their angst.

Blending queer desire with pop hooks, Déyyess sounds like a goddess descended from above. Really though, she’s just from Kent. But with songs like ‘Would You Ever Go Down On A Girl?’, her music suggests that Canterbury might be the home of the divine after all. Catch her at Paradiso for a hallowed sighting and a night of sapphic awakening.

Jazz meets electronic music at this pop-up party that merges sax and sultriness. This edition is at Bar Dancing Multipla, where the industrial garage and red lights promise an evening that’ll convert curious jazz enthusiasts into bona fide fans.
