The Weather Station

Climate-conscious pop might not sound like the most romantic – though any music with a cause has our interest piqued – but The Weather Station makes blissful, meandering melodies with a message for the earth. Originally hailing from Toronto, Canada, the band have released a number of critically acclaimed albums including 2021’s Ignorance, which is a great gateway LP into their sound. Biig Piig

Sultry and introspective, Biig Piig’s soundscape blends dreamy beats with whispered lyrical finesse. Her critically acclaimed debut album is set to light up Melkweg for a night of lo-fi magnetism you’ll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else.

Orbital
For fans of: Boards of Canada, Röyksopp

Textured electronica by way of England arrives in the form of Orbital, one of the UK’s biggest dance acts of the 90s. Loved for their ambient and genre-splicing sounds, they’re set to perform their first two albums across two live shows, destined to satisfy long-time fans and budding ones.

Dua Saleh
For fans of: Doja Cat, FKA Twigs

Best known for their starring role in Sex Education as Cal, Dua Saleh has been generating buzz in music, too. Crafting a hypnotic blend of pop, R&B, hip-hop, and indie, their 2024 debut I Should Call Them is a perfect sundown album that’s set to turn Melkweg into one intimate bedroom – and an audience both lovestruck and lingering.

Laura Misch

Saxophonist, producer, and composer Laura Misch has long proved she can do it all. Now she’s bringing her electro-acoustic back catalogue to the hallowed, modernist halls of Bimhuis, where her one-woman show invites deep listening and contemplation through songs inspired by nature.

MØ Presents: Plæygirl
Billed as a dance party for people who hate them, this special showcase is curated by Danish singer MØ, who’s set to perform new songs alongside emerging artists and Djs. There’s not a whole lot of info around the night but it’s at Cinetol which is always a good option. The only thing you need to know is the dresscode: black.

If you like: queer-friendly techno
One for anyone who wants to let go for a night, RADION welcomes back popular queer night De Reunie. Designed as a night that celebrates everyone, no matter their race, gender or sexuality, it’s one for the inclusive-minded. Its music is a little more selective, focused on techno and house, genres pioneered by the LGBTQ+ community. Come as you are – but stay for the music.

As spokespeople for more inclusivity in the electronic music scene, Girls Don’t Sync blends the percussive rhythms of UK garage with the irresistible energy of house and bass. From the success of their Mixmag set to global fame, this collective celebrates women and a shared passion for really good electronic music.

Jeff Mills at Thuishaven
If you like: legendary electronica

A living legend and founder of the Detroit Techno collective that revolutionised the electronic music landscape, Jeff Mills bringing his bespoke sounds to Amsterdam’s Thuishaven. Known for its intimate festival terrain and immersive sets, it’s a good a space as any to take in Mills’ expansive soundscape and hopefully the first days of spring.
