Singer Laren
Singer Laren is unique, cultural heritage in private ownership. It consists of a museum, theater, villa and sculpture garden
History
Singer Laren consists of a museum, villa, sculpture garden and theater. The American couple Anna and William Singer built the Villa De Wilde Zwanen here in Laren at the beginning of the last century. Here they received their friends, including many artists. Together they brought together an impressive art collection. In 1956 a museum and a theater were built on the villa.
Museum
The museum has changing exhibitions. The Singer collection includes works from the period 1880-1950 by artists such as Anton Mauve, Jan Sluijters, Kees van Dongen, Leo Gestel and Bart van der Leck. In addition to paintings and works on paper, the collection contains a number of beautiful images, including seven works by Auguste Rodin. With this, Singer can boast of the largest collection of this sculptor in the Netherlands, culminating in De Denker.
Theater
The theater offers a varied program including drama, cabaret, musicals, classical music, children's performances and lectures. Click here for more information.
Sculpture garden
The sculpture garden, which is freely accessible, was designed by internationally renowned landscape architect Piet Oudolf and is decorated with sculptures by contemporary Dutch artists who investigate the relationship between culture and nature. Each work of art connects with nature in its own way.
