Vondelpark

The Vondelpark is Amsterdam's most popular park, attracting thousands of tourists, residents and everyone in between every day.

Westerpark

Located in Amsterdam West, the Westerpark is a wonderful place to walk, skate, relax or have a picnic with friends. This green expanse dotted with trees and ponds is part of the Gashouder complex, a former gasworks that was completely renovated in recent years. Besides the park, this area is home to a nice selection of cafés, restaurants and bars, as well as an art-house cinema and a variety of small creative businesses. Many large cultural events take place here throughout the year, and certain buildings can be rented by the public for events, parties or even weddings.

Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam

Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam (Botanical Garden)

For nearly four centuries, Amsterdam's Hortus Botanicus has regaled visitors with its lush greenhouses and exotic plants. Originally founded in 1638 to serve as a herb garden for the city’s doctors and pharmacists, it’s one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world.

The Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Forest)

Located on the edge of the city, the Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Forest) is Amsterdam’s largest park and recreational area. The lush forests and grassy meadows offer plenty of space for a relaxing picnic with family or friends, and the park is crossed by many kilometres of well-marked walking and cycling paths.

Erasmuspark

A place for everyone: young and old. Want to play outdoors, go for a walk, have a picnic, play a game of football, enjoy the sunshine or jog around the miracle garden? You can do it all in Erasmuspark. The Erasmuspark is located on Jan van Galenstraat, between Admiralengracht and Mercatorstraat. The park is used for various events throughout the year, from circuses to food festivals.

Tuinen van West

Tuinen van West (Gardens of West) is a combination of old and new landscapes, and suitable for all kinds of purposes such as art/culture, (urban) agriculture and healthy products, catering, nature and sports/recreation.

Noorderpark

The former Flora Park, with its English country charm, has joined the recreational space of Volewijkspark. Together, they form Noorderpark: a vibrant green oasis in the heart of Amsterdam Noord.

Het Twiske

Het Twiske recreational area lies to the north of Amsterdam between Zaanstad and Purmerend. It’s the ideal place for a day out on your bicycle, as Amsterdam’s bike paths connect directly to the paths in Het Twiske.

Amstelpark

Located the southern edge of Amsterdam, Amstelpark is an expansive park filled with a multitude of flower gardens, a playground and a petting zoo. There is also an on-site gallery with two exhibition spaces: the Glazen Huis (glass house) and the Orangerie.

Flevopark

The Flevopark is located on the edge of the east side of Amsterdam. Large playing fields and the construction of a harbor for rowing boats were intended to meet the needs of the growing youth of the Indische Buurt.

Nelson Mandelapark

Formerly known as the Bijlmerpark, this large park in Amsterdam Zuidoost has plenty of areas for sports and recreation, a skate park, a magnolia valley and an arboretum comprising native trees from the many homes of the neighbourhood’s residents.

Botanical Gardens Vrije Universiteit (Zuidas)

Large herbarium and tropical greenhouses with orchids, a collection of bonsai trees (Japanese miniature trees) and the largest collection of cactuses and succulents in The Netherlands.

Gaasperplas Park

The Gaasperplas is a recreational area and nature reserve with a lake and water sports centre, offering canoeing, swimming, rowing, sailing and windsurfing. The Gaasperplas area was used as the site of the Floriade garden show in 1982, and later turned into a public park. With more than 5 kilometres of paths, you can explore the park by foot, bicycle or horseback. At the edge of the park you’ll find the Gaasperping campsite.

Park Frankendael

Frankendael is Amsterdam’s only remaining 17th-century country estate. The romantic park has two historic gardens - a period garden and a landscape garden – as well as a sunbathing area and marsh. In the middle of the park is the imposing Huize Frankendael ('Frankendael House') where cultural events are regularly organized. Also in the park are the unique restaurants Merkelbach (in the former coach house) and De Kas (in a propagation house from 1926).
