Piano trios by Haydn, Ives and Beethoven
The Amelio Trio performs three piano trios, each with its own distinct character. Haydn's Piano Trio in F major opens with a clear and elegant sound, featuring lively interplay between violin, cello, and piano. This is followed by Charles Ives' Piano Trio , a work full of recognizable melodies, unexpected twists, and striking contrasts. The program concludes with Beethoven's Piano Trio No. 3 , warm and romantic music in which the three instruments are in constant dialogue.
An ensemble with international recognition
The Amelio Trio consists of Johanna Schubert (violin), Merle Geissler (cello), and Philipp Kirchner (piano). They have been playing together since childhood and form a close-knit ensemble. They have won prizes at the ARD International Music Competition and the German Music Competition. For the 2026/27 season, they have been selected as an ECHO Rising Star, which leads to performances in major concert halls throughout Europe.
