Visiting museums on public holidays
Nearly all of Amsterdam's museums and attractions are open on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Monday, Remembrance and Liberation Day (4 & 5 May), Ascension Day, Whitsun and Whit Monday, although It's advisable to check the museum's website before visiting to avoid disappointment. While the majority of museums and attractions in Amsterdam close on King's Day (27 April), some major attractions stay open for business. In recent years, those included examples such as Anne Frank House, Artis Zoo, Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum. Please check individual museums' websites for the most up to date information.
Visiting museums during the holiday season
The majority of Amsterdam's museums and attractions are open on Christmas Eve (24 December), Boxing Day (26 December) and New Year's Eve (31 December); please check their websites for confirmation. Some major museums and galleries are open on Christmas Day, although with special opening hours.
