
Getting to Amsterdam Beach
Getting to the beach from Amsterdam is a piece of cake. While many locals drive or cycle, it’s just as easy to get there using public transport. Here are some tips for how to get to Zandvoort, Heemskerk and IJmuiden.

Zandvoort
- Direct train service from Amsterdam Centraal to Zandvoort aan Zee – 30 minutes
- Take bus 80 from Elandsgracht in central Amsterdam to Zandvoort beach - 60 minutes
IJmuiden
- Take bus 382 from Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station to IJmuiden aan Zee – 45 minutes
Heemskerk
- Direct train service from Amsterdam Centraal to Heemskerk - 35 minutes.
National Park Zuid-Kennemerland
- Direct rain service from Amsterdam Centraal station to station Overveen – 25 minutes. From there it’s just a short walk to the Visitor Centre.
- The park can also be visited from station Santpoort Noord. The entrance is a 10-minute walk away.

Take the stress out of your journey and travel around Amsterdam and to the beach by bus with the Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket. Tickets are valid on all metro, tram and bus lines operated by GVB, Connexxion, AllGo and EBS, including night buses, plus NS trains in the Amsterdam Area. Remember, you must check in and out with your card whenever you enter and exit a bus, tram, train or metro. Your ticket is activated from the first check in.
