From Amsterdam to Zaandam
Every year, about 35,000 participants run with the Dam tot Damloop. It is the largest running event of its kind in the Netherlands with 10 English Mile (16.1 km) from the heart of Amsterdam to Zaandam. The youngest sports enthusiasts have also been thought of: children between 4 and 12 years old can walk a distance of 0.6 or 2.2 km with the Mini Dam tot Damloop.
Walking and cycling
If running isn't really your thing, there are plenty of other events to take part in. The various activities take place in the weekend of the Dam tot Damloop. Cyclists can participate in different routes from 40 to 145 km long and there is plenty of entertainment for participants and spectators alike.
Information regarding closures and diversions
During the event, the Prins Hendrikkade and the IJtunnel, both city-in and city-out, will be closed off in the center. In Amsterdam-Noord, the Nieuwe Leeuwarderweg will be closed from the IJdoornlaan in the direction of the city center between 07:00 - 17:30. The center remains accessible from Amsterdam-Noord via the Piet Hein tunnel, and this also applies to traffic from the center towards Noord.
