What at first seems familiar and commonplace gradually transforms into a physical world full of tension, misunderstandings, humor, silence, and hidden power dynamics. Between the kitchen, the table, and the back room, generations, cultural expectations, and personal desires clash.

Through contemporary dance, live music, text, and physical theatricality, Plastic Soup explores the changing position of Chinese restaurants within Dutch society—places that have become familiar to many, while the stories, tensions, and human experiences behind them often remain invisible.

Asian movement influences, physical precision, and raw performative energy come together in an intense performance about identity, adaptation, social pressure, and human connection.
