Amsterdam Museum on the Amstel

The Amsterdam Museum can be found on the Amstel, in the building of the H'ART Museum. During a large-scale renovation of the monumental Burgerweeshuis, the Amsterdam Museum will find its temporary home here. With a completely new range of exhibitions, public programmes and children's activities. Here, the Amsterdam Museum will display an entirely new collection presentation that, besides the traditional history of Amsterdam, also offers plenty of space for dissenting voices and lesser-known and more recent histories of the city.
Amsterdam Refresh #: Imagine the Future
In honor of Amsterdam's 750th anniversary, the Amsterdam Museum presents the third edition of Refresh Amsterdam: a large-scale art event that explores current themes in the city and society. In collaboration with various cultural partners, the museum brings together work by artists and the public, with the central question: what does the future look like?
The exhibition features works by fifteen contemporary artists and an impressive solo exhibition by Raquel van Haver. In addition, visitors can see wishes for the future that were submitted by the public and collected by the museum in all provinces of the Netherlands. Young people also had a say in the ‘Next Generation’ section, in which they share their vision of the future.
Varied exhibitions
In changing exhibitions, residents and lovers of the city also have their say to show 'their Amsterdam'. The branch of the Amsterdam Museum on the Amstel will show you with well-known objects from the collection and new or lesser-known works that there is not one history of the city.
