Podium Buiksloterkerk

In Amsterdam-Noord, behind the Buiksloterdijk, the Buiksloterkerkje has stood for centuries, a fixed point in a changing world. The atmospheric Buiksloterkerk is tucked away behind the picturesque houses on the Buiksloterdijk, part of the old Waterlandse Zeedijk. At the end of the last century, the historic building was too dilapidated to hold church services. Thanks to active local residents, the church was saved and restored. Today, it is a vibrant cultural centre and meeting place for the neighbourhood, 'noorderlingen' and other Amsterdammers.

Social and Cultural centre in Noord

The authentic interior of the building is adorned with a beautiful pulpit and a special organ by the renowned Amsterdam organ builder H. ter Hart, which is played regularly. In the Buiksloterkerk you can listen to concerts, classical, jazz and world music or visit one of the children's performances. There is also an annual Stekjesmarkt, a Kerstsamenzang and they organise an Oudejaarsdisco here. The church is also available for hire.

Thanks to the efforts of Stichting Buiksloterkerk, the Buiksloterkerk was fully restored to its former glory in 1995. Since then, the church has been an atmospheric meeting place and stage for culture in Amsterdam Noord.
