Cherry Blossoms in Amstelveen

The Japanese Sakura (Cherry Blossom Festival) celebration marks the coming of spring. It’s traditionally celebrated in by picnicking with family and friends under the blossoming cherry trees. Flowers – and nature in general – are particularly symbolic throughout Japanese culture, and the cherry blossom represents both a new beginning and the fragility of life. In past years there has been a festival to commemorate the blossoming of the flowers and the coming of spring, but the 2019 festival has been cancelled. You can still head to the Bloesempark section of Amsterdamse Bos at the end of March and start of April to see the cherry blossoms in bloom.
