UD Festival: Oum

Darija, poetry and contemporary influences

Moroccan singer, songwriter, and composer Oum was originally trained as an architect, but at the beginning of this century, she chose music. Over the past twenty years, she has created a unique musical universe where soul, jazz, and Moroccan traditions converge. After two critically acclaimed albums released in Morocco, she broke through in Europe in 2013 with Soul of Morocco , her first international release. On the follow-up, Zarabi , she continued her distinctive style, where darija, poetry, and contemporary influences come together, connected with spiritual and ecological themes.

Dialddar

With her latest project, Dialddar , Oum returns to the roots. It is an intimate and profound work, built around vocals and percussion. A work that explores cycles of transformation, femininity, and a deep connection to origins. Dialddar showcases Oum at the peak of her abilities: fully in control yet simultaneously deeply emotional. And well worth the effort.

UD Festival

The sixth edition of the UD Festival will take place from November 3 to 22, 2026, in various concert halls in the Netherlands. A festival entirely dedicated to the oud, the instrument that builds a musical bridge between East and West. The oud once made a long journey from Baghdad to Andalusia and formed the basis for a musical revolution in the West. The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra organized the first edition of the UD Festival in 2016.
