Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder is one of the oldest and most special museums in Amsterdam. Discover a rare, well-preserved canal house from the Golden Age. Narrow corridors and stairs lead to historically furnished living areas, kitchens and cupboards and end in what is literally the highlight of the museum: a complete church in the attic.

Church in the attic

The Roman Catholic house church was built in 1663, when masses were officially prohibited, but turned a blind eye. The church is thus a typical example of the (religious) tolerance that is so characteristic of the Netherlands, for which William of Orange laid the foundation in the 16th century. Freedom of belief and freedom of conscience are the pillars of the museum to this day. As a result, Museum Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder is still a wonderful place for experience and reflection.

Museum café and museum shop

The entrance building houses the museum shop (ground floor) and the museum café (first floor). The museum shop offers a wide range of books, gifts and souvenirs. The shop is freely accessible. Entrance to the museum café is only possible with a ticket for the museum. The museum café is accessible by stairs and by lift.
