Fabrique des Lumières






See art come to life in the largest immersive art centre in the Netherlands – Fabrique des Lumières – housed in the former 19th century gasworks in Westergas. In a large industrial space with walls up to 17 metres high, immersive exhibitions of classical, modern and contemporary artists are on display. Using advanced technology, the artworks are brought to life by 100+ state-of-the-art projectors and accompanying music.

To visit Fabrique des Lumières with your I amsterdam City Card, you don’t need to reserve a timeslot in advance. Make sure your I amsterdam City Card is valid at the time of your visit and check the Fabrique des Lumières website for current opening hours. You can pick between three different exhibitions:
From Vermeer to Van Gogh, Dutch Masters
Shown daily - 09:30 - 12:00
This immersive exhibition takes you back to the 17th-century, the golden age of Dutch painters. Explore the iconic works of Vermeer, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and many others. In total, more than 325 artworks by some 50 different painters can be admired. Immerse yourself with Dutch landscapes, rough seas, beautiful still-lives, and the people of that period.
Prehistoric Planet: Dinosaurs

Go on an adventure at Prehistoric Planet: Dinosaurs – The Immersive Show! Stand next to gigantic dinosaurs, towering volcanoes, deep oceans, and dense jungles. Discover exclusive, never-before-seen scenes from the award-winning Apple TV series Prehistoric Planet, and learn how dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures shaped the Earth. (Voiceover in Dutch, English subtitles)
Klimt: Gold in Motion
Shown daily - 15:00 - 18:00
Surround yourself with Klimt's iconic masterpieces, including The Kiss and Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I. A dreamy journey through a world of gold, brought to life by spectacular visuals and immersive music. Right after Klimt, you will experience the short exhibition about Hundertwasser: a colorful, utopian world without straight lines.
