Sarah Jane - Vaderziel Alleen
Dates
Growing up without a father, a not entirely unknown subject within the Black community. Not being able (or allowed) to talk about this, also a not entirely unknown subject within the Black community.
In Vaderziel Alleen, Sarah-Jane tells how growing up without a father has shaped her. As a child, she discovers that her father has a completely different family and that she and her mother are completely excluded from it. How do you deal with this as a young girl? What choices do you make? And how does that shape you into an adult woman?
In this solo performance, Sarah-Jane shares her personal experiences in a confrontational, playful, funny, and musical way. A social issue where bullying, negative self-image, and depression are central, and which therefore appeals to a wide audience. She gives you a glimpse into her heart and what is really going on in there. By alternating touching scenes with self-written and composed Dutch-language songs, Sarah-Jane shows a new side of herself that not many people know yet.
Audience reactions during the RRReuring festival (February 2026):
“So disarming!”
“Cried, laughed, and admired. What a power woman.”
“This was indescribably beautiful. With pain and love. With music and humor: I knew she was made for the stage, but this surpasses everything.”
“Powerful, intimate, hilarious.”
“Humor, depth, and I laughed.”
