National Tulip Day
Every year in January, Amsterdam officially kicks off the tulip season during National Tulip Day. Dutch tulip growers invite everyone to pick a bunch of tulips for free in a specially constructed picking garden. In 2025, National Tulip Day returns to the city for the 12th edition, with a new to be announced theme. Together with tens of thousands of visitors, the Dutch tulip growers ensure a colorful start to the new season.
National Tulip Day
It's time for tulips again!
National Tulip Day has existed since 2012. On the third Saturday of January we celebrate the start of a new cut tulip season. Until the beginning of May, Dutch tulips are widely available in more than 1,000 different varieties. From bright yellow to dark purple, from lily-shaped to fringed and from bi-colored to double-flowered. Tulip Day is an initiative of Dutch tulip growers. Together with family, friends and volunteers, they create the picking garden. Latest information about this event can be found on the website.
