National Tulip Day
Every year in January, Amsterdam officially kicks off the tulip season during National Tulip Day. Dutch tulip growers invite everyone to pick a bunch of tulips for free in a specially constructed picking garden. In 2023 it was extra party because the 10th picking garden was created at a new location: the Museumplein. In 2024, National Tulip Day will return to the city for its 11th edition, with a new theme. Together with tens of thousands of visitors, the Dutch tulip growers ensure a colorful start to the new season. NOTE: The date and time mentioned for 2024 is subject to change.
National Tulip Day
It's time for tulips again!
National Tulip Day has been taking place on the third Saturday of January since 2012. Until the beginning of May, tulips are available in more than 1,000 varieties. From bright yellow to dark purple, from lily-shaped to fringed and from two-tone to double-flowered. Tulip Day is an initiative of Dutch tulip growers. They build the picking garden together with family, friends and volunteers.
