Dekpunt - Jan Beuving

Jan Beuving brings his new cabaret show 'Dekpunt' to De Kleine Komedie in Amsterdam. With new songs and stand-up routines, he takes you into a mathematical riddle about a forgotten mathematician.
Dekpunt - Jan Beuving
Mathematics as a storyline in a cabaret show
On 2 December 1966, mathematician Bertus Brouwer is crossing the street in Blaricum. He is hit by a car and killed. Jan Beuving uses this forgotten piece of history as a starting point for his new show Dekpunt. What a 'dekpunt' (fixed point) is and what this has to do with the life of Brouwer, Jan explains step by step — in his own way, with songs and stand-up routines.
New songs and clever stand-up routines
Jan Beuving is known for his sharp lyrics and musical cabaret. In Dekpunt, he once again combines new songs with carefully constructed stand-up routines. De Volkskrant wrote about his previous show 2025-1 that it 'is put together like a mathematical miracle'. That show won the Poelifinario for the best cabaret show of the season. With Dekpunt, Jan is once again searching for the boundaries of what cabaret can be.
