Robert Henke presents First Light

Audiovisual surround-sound performance

Henke was inspired for this audiovisual surround-sound performance by 'first light', which in astronomy refers to the inauguration of a new telescope. Henke makes the high expectations that precede this moment palpable. He lets the work emerge from the hall, interactively, like a DJ in a club. This is the only Dutch show, just after the world premiere at The Barbican, London.

Concert series Lumière

Robert Henke created similar performances with the concert series Lumière, the multi-channel concert Dust and selected Monolake Live Surround performances. He dedicated First Light to the female astronomers, astrophysicists, engineers, computer scientists and mathematicians who have contributed much to our knowledge of the universe, but rarely received the recognition they deserved for it.
