A stunt driver in the underworld
Driver (Ryan Gosling) works as a stunt driver in Hollywood during the day. At night, he drives getaway cars for criminals. He is good at his job and adheres to strict rules. Until he meets his neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a young mother raising her young son alone. A quiet bond grows between them.
If a job goes wrong
When Irene's husband, ex-convict Standard (Oscar Isaac), returns and gets into trouble, Driver decides to help him. The job goes horribly wrong. Driver finds himself forced to take action at great personal risk to protect Irene and her young son.
Stylish thriller with a strong cast
Drive is based on the novel of the same name by James Sallis. Director Nicolas Winding Refn won the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival with this film. The film is known for its atmospheric visuals, tight editing, and Gosling's restrained acting style.
