Family month at the Rijksmuseum

There’s plenty to do for families this October. During Family month, embark on a secret mission together with the brand-new Family Quest: Story Rescuers. Solve puzzles, discover unique works of art, and work together as a team. And there’s much more for all ages. Check out the program and discover what you can experience together.

Fiep-Lab (ages 4–12)

Illustrator Fiep Westendorp had a unique talent for bringing stories to life. At the hands-on tables in the Fiep Lab, you can learn more about her work. For example, create a shadow drawing in the style of Jip and Janneke, design a colorful pattern for Prince Karel’s ice cap, or tell your own story using illustrations from Pluk van de Petteflet.
  • Every Saturday and Sunday in October
  • Open every day during fall break (10–25 Oct.)

Stormy drawing (ages 6–12)

Hurricanes, storms, and waves several meters high: traveling by ship was not without danger. Come to the Great Hall and draw your own adventure. Is your ship sailing through a raging storm or on calm seas? And is there perhaps a sea monster lurking nearby?
  • Every Saturday and Sunday in October
  • Open every day during fall break (10–25 Oct.)
