For over thirty years, the Café Loetje has served as a landmark in Amsterdam. Regulars and out-of-towners alike flock there for its homemade fries and juicy steaks, which many have proclaimed to be the best in the Netherlands.
During Café Loetje's early years, it was better known for its
beers and billiard tables than its menu. While it’s since become
an eatery, the cafe hasn’t lost its cordial decor and friendly
charm. The Café Loetje feels closer to a pub than a bistro and
its owner, Jaap, along with his son Jeroen, have appeared on national
cooking shows on Dutch television. In addition to the steaks, the menu
also includes shrimp croquettes and a variety of soups.
