Kinderkookkafé

The Kinderkookkafé has been around for more than 40 years! It started in 1981 on the Oudezijds Achterburgwal with the 'open dinner' and is now a household name in Amsterdam and far beyond for the Help-Yourself-Bar, the various birthday parties and still the 'open dinner'. Here, the children do everything themselves, and that is why they like to come!

Then what do they all do?

Well, everything! This is the café where children aged 5-12 cook, serve, bartender, clean up, wash and pay. Guests can (and must) make reservations for Saturday (dinner) and Sunday (high tea). Children can cook at open enrollment (Saturday and Sunday) or birthday parties and courses during the week. The rule of thumb is that the 'cook' brings at least two guests. Every adult who wants to come and eat something also brings a child.
