Vivaldi in an Amsterdam canal garden
This year, the Grachtenfestival is all about greenery. The familiar house, garden, and rooftop terrace concerts are making way for a series of concerts in Amsterdam's historic canal gardens. These gardens lie hidden behind the facades of the stately canal houses and are normally not accessible to the public. A 17th-century law protects them to this day.
Chamber music by young violinists
Violinist Maerle Oostindie (2012) started playing the violin at the age of 5 and studies at the Sweelinck Academy of the Amsterdam Conservatory. With the ensemble Vioollab Strings, she performed at Stage4kids prize-winner concerts in Hamburg and won the Music Competition of the Princess Christina Competition. She also performed with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in the Main Hall of the Concertgebouw.
Program with The Four Seasons
The program includes, among other pieces, Spring from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons . In short, high-contrast sections, you can hear thunderstorms, birdsong, flowing brooks, and winter chill reflected in the music. Alongside Vivaldi, there is chamber music for violin ensemble performed by students who have been making music together intensively since a young age.
