Twenty-something Momi Maiga is already recognized as a virtuoso on the kora, the West African harp. He is praised for his fluid singing voice and his self-taught flair for composition. Momi Maiga

In Senegal, he grew up in a family of griots, storytellers and guardians of culture for centuries. In his own band, he increasingly incorporates influences from his current homeland of Catalonia, including flamenco and jazz. Momi Maiga sings in Mandinka and Wolof, the languages closest to him. On his second album, "Kairo," which means "peace" in Mandinka, he once again brings together various cultures, not least those of his bandmates: the classically trained Mexican violinist and singer Carlos Montfort; cellist and singer Marçal Ayats; and the Catalan drummer and percussionist Aleix Tobias Sabater. Expect poetry, breathtaking virtuosity, and a positive message.
