It's no wonder Canadian saxophonist Ben Wendel is a frequent guest at the Bimhuis. From his supergroup High Heart and the renowned Kneebody to his Reflex concert featuring solo saxophone, dance, video, and a web of lasers: Wendel always chooses unorthodox projects. His latest project, "BaRcoDe," fits seamlessly into this. The inimitable saxophonist presents this electroacoustic project with four vibraphonists.

Ben Wendel's BaRcoDe

The saxophonist shares the stage with four top vibraphonists: Joel Ross, Simon Moullier, Patricia Brennan, and Juan Diego Villalobos. Ross is one of the leading vibraphonists of his generation. Moullier explores quarter tones and global influences. Brennan redefines the instrument and has collaborated with avant-garde greats like Mary Halvorson and John Zorn. Villalobos adds Afro-Caribbean rhythms and electronics. With a lineup of marimba, vibraphones, glockenspiel, percussion, and saxophone, the quintet explores and finds new connections between chamber music, minimal music, and jazz. This concert is part of the Amsterdam Marimba Weekend.
