Vienna New Year's Concert
In Vienna, the Vienna Philharmonic performs the New Year's Concert every year on January 1st in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein. Since 1984, the concert has been broadcast on Dutch television. But everything sounds better live, especially in the Concertgebouw. That is why the Concertgebouw is organizing its own New Year's Concert in Viennese style, but with a European touch. The new year begins festively with this Sunday Morning Concert!
Waltzes, polkas, and marches by Johann Strauss Jr.
Under the direction of Sander Teepen, the Württembergische Philharmonie plays the most beautiful waltzes, polkas, and marches by Johann Strauss Jr. This year, it is not just Viennese classics that will be heard, for with Smetana's The Bartered Bride, Bizet's Toréadors, Mascagagni's Intermezzo sinfonico, music by Respighi, and Tchaikovsky's Polonaise from Eugene Onegin, it is a European celebration of the New Year.
