Ella Fitzgerald

She was known for her unmistakable, pure sound and collaborated with all the greats of jazz. The legendary singer Ella Fitzgerald hardly needs an introduction. She enjoyed worldwide fame with classics such as April in Paris, Love For Sale , and her duets with Louis Armstrong. The full breadth of her music and musicality is showcased tonight in this tribute by vocalist Anna Serierse and the Jazz Orchestra. During her concerts in the Netherlands, Ella Fitzgerald effortlessly charmed the audience. With Dutch Jazz Heritage, we go back to those Dutch concerts by 'The Queen of Jazz' and discuss Fitzgerald's impact. Drawing on original photos and film footage from the Dutch Jazz Archive, the story and music of those performances from seventy years ago are brought to life.

Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw consists of world-class Dutch jazz musicians. The big band ranks among the top in Europe, has won multiple Edison Awards, and has previously collaborated with legends such as Chick Corea, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Joshua Redman. In addition to aiming to make more than a century of Dutch jazz accessible to new generations, the orchestra also likes to look ahead and collaborates with contemporary (jazz) musicians from all corners of the world.
