Five Masterclasses
From Friday 30 January 2026, the Rembrandt House Museum will reveal his best tips and tricks in five Masterclasses: Observation, Technique, Emotion, Experimentation and Marketing. For nineteen years, the museum served as the creative home where Rembrandt and his pupils worked. During this exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to discover, try, fail, improve and proudly display what they have created.
The exhibition combines etchings, paintings and a drawing by Rembrandt with interactive assignments such as drawing an elephant, drawing a decisive line, directing a scene yourself and recognising the real Rembrandt. Visitors are challenged to look, draw, experiment and analyse just as Rembrandt and his pupils did in this same house more than 350 years ago. This makes the exhibition not only interesting for art lovers, but also a great place to visit with your children or grandchildren.
At the end of the exhibition, you will come face to face with one of Rembrandt’s masterpieces, the painting De anatomische les van Dr. Jan Deijman, which currently hangs in the Gallery of Honour at the Rijksmuseum. In a slow watching room, visitors discover how this work of art brings together everything that Rembrandt did so well.
