Strand IJburg is a lovely city beach in Amsterdam Oost, which is part of Strandeiland, the largest island of the IJburg archipelago. Nice weather? Leave the busy city centre and discover a new part of Amsterdam for swimming, sports and relaxing. Bring your picnic basket and your BBQ, because you can barbecue on IJburg beach!

What is there to do?

At Strand IJburg you can enjoy the beach, swim, play volleyball, skate, play football or take lessons in supping or surfing. There is an information centre about IJburg, a shop and a restaurant.

Good to know

Swimming is always at your own risk.

Beach IJburg is open from 1 May. It is supervised from 1 May to 30 September, and the toilets are open during that time.

The beach is prohibited for dogs from 1 April to 30 September. From 1 October to 31 March, the beach is also an off-leash area. Look on the map where dogs are allowed to run loose.

You can borrow a beach wheelchair from the beach concierge.
