Vondelkerk (Vondel Church)

The charming Vondelkerk (Vondel Church) stands at the edge of the Vondelpark and was used as a church from 1880 to 1977. Today it houses the offices of a few small businesses. The beautiful former church space also hosts concerts and is rented out for special occasions, including weddings, formal dinners and meetings.

Preserving monuments

The church was built in Gothic revival style and was designed by P.J.H. Cuypers – the famous architect responsible for Amsterdam’s Central Station and Rijksmuseum. It is managed by Stadsherstel, which restores and preserves monuments ensuring that the original character of the building is left intact but that it is also suitable as a cultural venue. In this way, Amsterdam’s heritage remains open to the public.
