Restaurants and bars at Amsterdam Beach

Sip on a drink after surfing, treat yourself to a meal after a long walk in the dunes or dance until the sun comes up: you can do it all on the Dutch coast. For nightlife, dinner, drinks, and everything else in between here’s our roundup of the best restaurants and bars that Amsterdam Beach has to offer.

The Spot

Open in the warmer months (March-October), The Spot stands for sports, sun and planet-conscious, healthy eating. The menu offers a wide choice of honest, sustainable, organic and vegetarian options, from granola and scrambled egg breakfasts to fuel you up for a long day in the waves to poké bowls, nachos and juicy burgers. Their sun-soaked beach deck is the perfect location to watch the surf and catch some rays.

Gasterij Kruisberg

Witness the beautiful rugged landscape of the Dutch forest and dunes at Gasterij Kruisberg. Nestled in the rolling dunes of Heemskerk, Gasterij Kruisberg is an ethical farmstead featuring a farm-to-table restaurant with beef from Highlander cows reared on the farm. The estate is home to over 450 sheep, 70 highland cattle, 80 goats, and 20 Exmore ponies that wander the expansive grounds. Enjoy a sunny day exploring the natural landscape, and finish with a delicious lunch made with quality local ingredients.

The beautifully historic Duin & Kruidberg Country Estate, located in the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, houses a beautiful restaurant. Treat yourself to an extensive lunch, culinary dinner or a high tea, or simply relax over drinks. When the weather is fine, diners can move out onto the terrace for stunning views over the English landscape-style garden.

Kraantje Lek

This nostalgic cafe buried in the dunes is a special place that's bursting with charm. Originally built as an inn in 1542, people would come from all over the world to visit the area, enjoy the countryside and paint the landscape – Frans Hals was among them. Feel the sense of history in the wooden interiors as you tuck into Dutch classics like appeltaart and krokketen, alongside a range of warming stews, snacks and sandwiches.

Woodstock 69

One of the most colourful beach clubs on the North Sea, Woodstock 69 is an eccentric party place, known as the hippy tent of Bloemendaal. It has colourful eastern infused décor with palm trees and umbrellas and attracts an alternative crowd that parties hard. Anything goes at this place! It has a packed party agenda with live music and DJ parties, but the best thing about it is the bonfire.

De Bokkedoorns

Located in the beautiful dunes of Haarlem and Zandvoort, De Bokkedoorns has a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere considering it boasts two Michelin stars. Republiek

Republiek is more of an upmarket Bloemendaal beach bar for the more mature, more sophisticated crowd. The décor is stylish and you could easily mistake it for a beach club in Ibiza. You can hire loungers that overlook the beach or you can get cosy on one of the sofas. It usually plays chilled-out lounge music but it is also famous for its parties which are spread out through the season, are free and are really good fun. Its menu is one of the more interesting in the area and it has a pizza oven which serves great rustic pizzas.

San Blas

From Panama to Amsterdam beach: named after a tropical archipelago, this beach pavilion is open all throughout the year. It is architecturally interesting, too: the eye-catching modern building was constructed using sustainable and reclaimed material, and San Blas is run environmentally consciously, offering affordable organic food, using solar power and avoiding plastic waste as much as possible.

De Meerpaal

Restaurant De Meerpaal is the oldest fish restaurant in Zandvoort, and it has heaps of authentic Dutch charm. Every day, the chefs prepare fresh seafood in the traditional way using only the highest quality ingredients. Check the huge menu for delicious croquettes, herring, catch-of-the-day main dishes and sharing platters.
