Restaurants and bars at Amsterdam Beach
Sip on a drink after surfing, treat yourself to a meal after a long walk in the dunes or dance until the sun comes up: you can do it all on the Dutch coast. For nightlife, dinner, drinks, and everything else in between here’s our roundup of the best restaurants and bars that Amsterdam Beach has to offer.
Duin & Kruidberg
The beautifully historic Duin & Kruidberg Country Estate, located in the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, houses a beautiful restaurant. Treat yourself to an extensive lunch, culinary dinner or a high tea, or simply relax over drinks. When the weather is fine, diners can move out onto the terrace for stunning views over the English landscape-style garden.
Restaurant De Meerpaal is the oldest fish restaurant in Zandvoort with heaps of authentic Dutch charm. Every day the chefs prepare fresh seafood in the traditional way using only the highest quality ingredients. Check the huge menu for delicious croquettes, herring, catch-of-the-day main dishes and sharing platters.
For more adventurous foodies, Hokkai Kitchen serves up delicious Japanese grilled fish and sushi dishes. You’ll find it among the warehouses at IJmuiden harbour, with fresh fish and carefully selected rice, nori and shoyu coming together at the chef’s table. The setting is informal with all the energy of the restaurant devoted to showcasing the wonderful flavours, fresh products and traditional recipes.
Mango’s Beach Bar
Zandvoort’s dozens of beach clubs, restaurants and pavilions offer the perfect place to relax, with wind-screened terraces and delicious food and drink options. May we suggest a luxurious sunset cocktail at Mango’s Beachbar? Choose between views of the rolling dunes or the crashing waves.
One of the most colourful beach clubs on the North Sea, Woodstock 69 is an eccentric party place, known as the hippy tent of Bloemendaal. It has colourful eastern infused décor with palm trees and umbrellas and attracts an alternative crowd that parties hard. Anything goes at this place! It has a packed party agenda with live music and DJ parties, but the best thing about it is the bonfire.
Located in the beautiful dunes of Haarlem and Zandvoort, De Bokkedoorns has a surprisingly relaxed atmosphere considering it boasts two Michelin stars. The tranquil beauty of the lakeside setting is translated to the plate, as seasonal ingredients are prepared with care and imagination. Both an escape from the city and a culinary adventure, De Bokkedoorns is a true feast for the senses.
Republiek is more of an upmarket Bloemendaal beach bar for the more mature, more sophisticated crowd. The décor is stylish and you could easily mistake it for a beach club in Ibiza. You can hire loungers that overlook the beach or you can get cosy on one of the sofas. It usually plays chilled-out lounge music but it is also famous for its parties which are spread out through the season, are free and are really good fun. Its menu is one of the more interesting in the area and it has a pizza oven which serves great rustic pizzas.
Noble Tree Cafe
Coffee time? Head to Noble Tree Cafe, the coffee hotspot in Zandvoort city centre that’s a real favourite among locals. Besides the best coffee, there's a tempting menu featuring healthy bowls and fresh juices.
For many years, Timboektoe has had a solid position as one of the best beach cafés on the Dutch coast. The North Pier at Wijk aan Zee is one of the ultimate surfing beaches in the Netherlands – a unique spot to come together and celebrate. Here, you’ll find everything you need for an unforgettable day. Timboektoe is fully committed to sustainability, from organic food to solar panels on the roof.
From Panama to Amsterdam beach: named after a tropical archipelago, this beach pavilion is open all throughout the year. It is architecturally interesting, too: the eye-catching modern building was constructed using sustainable and reclaimed material, and San Blas is run environmentally consciously, offering affordable organic food, using solar power and avoiding plastic waste as much as possible.
Chefs! Food and Drinks
Look out over the dunes and the crashing waves of the North Sea at Chefs! Food and Drinks which is parked in the centre of the IJmuiden marina. On the lunch and dinner menus, you’ll encounter local specialities and surprising flavours with dishes such as lobster bisque and ceviche sitting next to Peking duck and Boeuf Bourguignon. Guests have free access to peek into the kitchen with a seat at the Chef’s Table.
