From Monday through Friday, Nieuwmarkt is home to a small market. On one side of the square, you’ll see a couple of stalls selling basics like vegetables, flowers and cheese. On Saturdays, the entire square is taken over by the weekly organic farmers’ market.

Saturday Farmer's market

On Saturdays, the entire square is taken over by the weekly organic farmers’ market. Here you’ll find everything from locally-grown fruits and vegetables to candles and cosmetics. In the summer, there is also a weekly flea market on Sundays.

Besides the regularly scheduled markets, a number of special events and activities take place on the Nieuwmarkt throughout the year.
