During the Weekend of Science in Amsterdam, visitors can discover how science and technology work. You can explore for free at various locations throughout the city: from NEMO and ARTIS-Micropia to the Vrije Universiteit and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. Conduct experiments, build and test, discover AI, the human brain, animals, and much more!
This year, the question 'How does it work?' takes center stage once again. How does the world work? How does falling in love work? And how does energy work? During the Weekend of Science, visitors will search for answers to big and small questions themselves and discover how science and technology influence our daily lives.
From detective work to astronomy
At Amsterdam Science Park, you dive into the world of glassblowing, facial recognition, and a real mini-tornado, and take a look through the observatory domes. In the laboratories of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, you step into a real Airbus 320 cockpit, search for clues as a forensic investigator, and test your skills with a robotic arm. At the KNAW, during Wajo?! Wetenschap?!, you fold your own microscope, test your knowledge of youth slang in the Skibidi Rizz Language Quiz, and go on an exciting mold scavenger hunt in the cellars of the Trippenhuis.
New audience survey: Can I count on you?
In collaboration with Utrecht University, a new public survey is being launched: Can I Count on You? Collaborating with someone you know is often taken for granted, but how does that work when you collaborate online with someone you cannot see or hear? Led by Dr. Robert Weijers, researchers at Utrecht University are investigating how people experience collaboration, how much trust they have in their collaboration partner, and what makes people feel connected. Furthermore, participants can contribute to a good cause with just one click. More information can be found atwww.kanikopjebouwen.nl. The public survey is an annual part of the Weekend of Science.

The Weekend of Science takes place annually on the first weekend of October and is organized by NEMO Science Museum, commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
