Festive opening for children and families

World Pride Kids is the children's program of World Pride 2026 in Amsterdam. The official opening takes place at ARTIS, right amidst the animals and nature. There, children discover the Natural Heroes Expedition: an adventurous route that shows how special and diverse the animal kingdom is. The morning is dedicated to wonder, encounters, and stories.

Diversity in nature as a theme

The opening will see the premiere of two new picture books: Zeno the Seahorse and Sebastian the Black Swan . Both books are based on real animals and show that diversity is not an exception in nature, but rather the norm. The stories are accessible to young children and also offer adults a relatable perspective.

For the first time ever, WorldPride comes to Amsterdam. From 25 July to 8 August 2026, the city will shine in every colour of the rainbow to celebrate freedom, diversity, and love in all its forms, as the Netherlands marks 25 years since becoming the first country to legalise gay marriage.
