New Year's Swim
Start your New Year’s fitness regime with a dip in the sea at Zandvoort aan Zee on January 1. This tradition is in its 60th year and attracts brave swimmers from all around the Netherlands. There were plenty of brave divers rushing into the sea, even more fun was that friends and family were there to cheer them on and plenty lifeguards just in case they were needed. Lets hope that on January 1, 2024 it will be such a party again.
New Year's Swim
Just be brave and dive in
If you’re feeling the effects of the New Year’s Eve celebrations, there might be no better cure than plunging into the freezing waters of Zandvoort aan Zee. Even those who prefer to stay on dry land, can join in the fun and enjoy a hot cup of erwten (pea) soup. Check the website for more information.
It doesn't matter if you are young, old, man or woman, because from grandchild to grandparent everyone is welcome. Registration is completely free and can be done in advance via the website or on the day itself. After registration you will receive a nice but especially warm present. After the dive you also get a cup of warm pea soup and a certificate.
Before you jump into the water there is a special warm-up with nice music. Then you take off your clothes and as soon as the starting signal has been given you run with thousands of others towards the sea for a refreshing dip.
Dry off quickly afterwards and put on clothes because there are no showers. There are no changing facilities and showers, so make sure you already have your swimsuit on. Be sure to bring a nice thick towel, bathrobe or sweatpants!
