Cinekid, the largest film, television, and New Media festival in the Netherlands, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Cinekid organizes festivals for children aged 3 to 14 throughout the country. From October 10 to 16, you can visit the Cinekid Festival at Pathé Noord in Amsterdam, but the festival continues nationwide until October 25.
By going to the children and creating an online platform, Cinekid can reach, connect, and inspire even more children with surprising film experiences, making them and the world a little bit better.
Discover the latest films and media
During the Cinekid Festival, children can enjoy high-quality films and media. They see the latest children's films and series from around the world. During Q&A sessions, they can ask questions to the makers of the films and series. In the masterclasses, children also create their own media under the guidance of professional filmmakers.
New and special stories
Cinekid shows stories that push boundaries. This is about boundaries between countries and cultures, but also between different types of films and media.
The festival screens feature films, short films, animated films, series, and documentaries. There are also new forms of media, such as AR, VR, AI, 360-degree films, and narrative games. The world of children is central to all these films and productions.
Discover new media in the MediaLab
During the festival, children discover the latest technologies in the 1,000 m² MediaLab. Artists and emerging talents showcase their newest installations and games here. They also give workshops.
Children can experiment with VR, AR, and AI, for example, themselves. In this way, they discover new digital media and learn what is possible with these technologies.
