Amsterdam Fringe Festival
Each year in September, Amsterdam Fringe Festival showcases a mixture of theatre, performance and dance, created by new, upcoming and untamed talents. Sometimes referred to as the NL Theater Festival’s quirky sister, Amsterdam Fringe Festival is all about bringing avant-garde productions to light. Each year some 70 productions are presented created by unorthodox theatre-makers keen to impress with their vision. What’s more, the venues where these eclectic performances take place can be just as unexpected. PLEASE NOTE: Dates and times for 2024 need to be confirmed.
AFF About Us
We present a multidisciplinary program containing over 60 artists of diverse backgrounds, origins and futures. Our festival is a free zone for experiment and offers a stage to new makers and their stories. Amsterdam Fringe Festival is an ode to theatrical madness, independent minds and a plea to artistic freedom. A warm, intimate embrace of experimentation at its core: the outcome might be extremely surprising.
The entire city is our playground: from a rooftop to a club and into a theatre, north to south; for 11 days you can find us at 27 locations, spread across Amsterdam.
Staging a huge array of productions by cutting-edge home-grown and international producers and artists at over 30 venues, the Amsterdam Fringe aims to be an ‘ode to independence’ and a ‘plea for artistic freedom’. Turning the entire city into a stage, the festival promises a wide selection of events that are suitable for non-Dutch speakers – at least half are in English or language doesn’t matter for following the performance. With a fantastic line-up of international productions, the festival promises a wide selection of events that are also suitable for non-Dutch speakers (at least half are in English or language simply doesn't matter).
With an appealing international line-up, English speakers can also fully enjoy the Fringe Festival. The indicated start times are the times of the performance that starts earliest. For all other starting times, day passes and/or combitickets, check the Fringe website.
