42 photos, 42 stories from the world

The exhibition World Press Photo 2026 brings together 42 award-winning press photos at the Fotomuseum Hilversum. The photos come from photographers from various countries and show what is happening in the world. Major themes such as war, migration, politics and climate are covered, but also stories of hope and change.

Photo of the year: a family under pressure

The photo of the year is Separated by ICE by the American photographer Carol Guzy. You see Cocha with her three children, shortly after her husband Luis was detained by ICE after an immigration hearing in New York. The photo makes visible what a political decision means for a family.

Women in an old tradition

In her series Farīsāt: Gunpowder's Daughters, photographer Chantal Pinzi follows female riders in the Moroccan tradition of Tbourida. For centuries, this equestrian tradition was only for men. Her images show how women are now claiming their place within this centuries-old tradition.
