A Home in Return for Silver, 2026
This work by Narges Mohammadi emerged from an exchange with local residents. In exchange for donated silver, she creates small sculptural interior elements based on personal objects. The melting down symbolizes the forgotten value of the city center: residents and their stories. Together, the works form a model of an imaginary room centered around ownership and collective memory.
The project was developed with local residents and We Live Here, with residents becoming co-owners of the artwork.
In her practice, Mohammadi explores memory, loss, and alternative forms of exchange. We Live Here is a residents' initiative in the Red Light District that makes the neighborhood visible as a place to live and encourages respectful behavior.
