In the small exhibition 'Druk' (Pressure), Tycho explores the city as a place that is constantly under pressure, both literally and figuratively. Through his photographic series Lang Leve Amsterdam and an installation featuring Corten steel and reclaimed Amsterdam foundation piles, he sheds light on both the growing pressures facing Amsterdam and the structures that support, protect and keep the city standing.

The artist

Amsterdam-based artist Tycho (1994) creates visual art and interventions for public spaces. From a young age, he explored the creative field, making a name for himself as a graffiti writer on the streets of Amsterdam. Today, his artistic practice brings together the raw energy of graffiti and street culture with the power of visual communication.

Driven by his love for the city, Tycho takes a critical look at the impact of urban change. Gentrification, the housing crisis and mass tourism are central themes in his work, through which he aims to make complex social issues visible and accessible to a wider audience. His work invites viewers to look at the city, and the changes taking place within it, from a different perspective.

In the audio tour, the young Amsterdam-based artist speaks in his own words.
