A new performance about Orpheus, the harp, and resistance

“After ten years of going my own way, I no longer want to choose between the worlds I know—I want to bring them together. THREADS is my attempt to delve into the depths and take the audience along with me.” The harp, the instrument within which Remy has long been regarded as one of the world’s greatest talents and innovators, forms the connecting element between all these threads.

In the performance, Remy uses loops, electronics, and his unparalleled virtuosity on his instrument. With light and visual artist Jurjen Alkema, it becomes a true audiovisual experience.

About Remy van Kesteren

Remy van Kesteren (1989) is internationally regarded as one of the most innovative harpists of his generation. The New York Times praised him as a “brilliant harpist,” but precisely at the moment when he seemed to have achieved everything within the classical world, his artistic quest truly began. His career is characterized by a continuous urge to question musical dogmas, push boundaries, and reinvent the harp – as an instrument and as an artistic means.

From his debut album Tomorrow Eyes in 2016 to his most recent collaborative project Leave What You Know in 2025, Remy's work moves between pop, electronica, alternative music, classical, and avant-garde, driven by his boundless curiosity, enthusiasm, and imagination. In his world as a creator, Remy draws inspiration from Glenn Gould and Jimi Hendrix: artists who did not follow their instrument but reinvented it, thereby speaking a language of their own that needed no category.
