Franck's Violin Sonata in A major unfolds as a passionate declaration of love. Ravel seduces with the sultry rhythms of his Pièce en forme de Habanera. In Messiaen's Thème et variations, a simple theme becomes a kaleidoscope of color, movement, and stillness. Debussy's Violin Sonata in G minor, his last completed composition, concludes the program with an idiosyncratic, intimate look at love and farewell.

Four works, four ways of longing – from romantic glow to musical abstraction. Duo Blaeu consists of violinist Feyona van Iersel and pianist Martijn Smits. They have been playing together for years in various chamber music ensembles and are known for their personal and engaging performances.
