Rakastava
Chamber Choir Bourmont was founded by Tycho Tax to organize an annual cultural event in the French village of Bourmont and consists of approximately 30 singers from the Dutch choral world. In this first edition, the choir, under the direction of conductor Ilari Anemaet, performs the program 'Rakastava', which means 'loving' in Finnish. The title is taken from the work of the same name by Jean Sibelius for string orchestra, which is now being performed for the first time in an arrangement for mixed choir with soloists. Also featured is the impressive motet for double choir by J.S. Bach, Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied, alongside works by Johannes Brahms, Philippe Verdelot, and Camille Saint-Saëns, among others. The concert concludes with the famous words of the poet Edmond Haraucourt, born in Bourmont: "partir, c'est mourir un peu" (to leave is to die a little).
