Lunchconcert in collaboration with Prinses Christina Concours
Dates
Huajin Gu, cello, 13 years old
Huajin fell in love with the cello at a young age. He heard the beautiful and deep sound of the instrument during a concert and knew immediately that he wanted to play it too. His teacher teaches in a special way. Huajin: 'During lessons, my teacher tries to explain in words what I need to do. Or he sings it for me. I find that very special about him. In this way, he lets me find my own style in music, instead of letting his style flow into me.' Besides music lessons, Huajin also takes weekly chess lessons. This alternation between chess and playing the cello ensures that his life is never boring. Huajin takes lessons every Saturday from Alexander Pertrasch at the Conservatorium Maastricht.
Jury testimonial
Huajin gave an impressively mature performance. His sense of nuance, his ability to convey refined details, and his enormous technical skills make him an exceptional talent. The jury enjoyed his heartwarming performance.
Yulianna Beziazychna, piano, 12 years old
Yulianna won a prize during De Muziekwedstrijd in 2023 and 2024 and has already been heard several times on the stages of the Prinses Christina Concours. Her favorite PCC memory is playing in the Classic Express, the only mobile concert hall in the world, which tours past primary schools throughout the Netherlands. In addition, the victory at the Steinway Concours and the accompanying trip to the Steinway Festival in Hamburg also form unforgettable memories. Yulianna will hear on May 13th which secondary school she will be attending after the summer holidays, and in August she will perform during the Kinderprinsengrachtconcert. Besides studying at the piano, Yulianna also spends a lot of time with her pet Pannenkoek - a bearded dragon - and she likes to build large Lego sets. She dreams of becoming a concert pianist and performing in the main hall of the Concertgebouw. Yulianna takes lessons from Tatiana Abayeva and sometimes also from her husband Boris Fedorov at the Davidsbündler Music Academy in The Hague. Her teacher is not only her instructor, but also a true friend!
Jury testimonial
Yulianna captured the hearts of the jury with her beautiful tone production, the poetry in her melodies, and the maturity of her performance. Despite her age, she makes her way with verve and apparent ease through the often challenging passages of Chopin's 2nd scherzo. She audibly has a great love for music and her instrument, the piano, and knows how to convey that to her audience.
Andrea Boga, piano
Andrea is a Spanish pianist whose musical interests encompass a broad repertoire. Her deep appreciation for sharing and conveying music determines her approach to music and inspires her passion for chamber music and piano accompaniment. Since 2022, she has been part of the Mühlfeld Trio, with which she performs actively throughout Europe. During the year in which she completed her master's degree in piano accompaniment at the Conservatorium Maastricht (2024), she joined as a teacher and piano accompanist for the Young Talent class of that same conservatory.
