A living drum machine inspired by the Roland TR-808

Arsenal Mikebe is part of the Nyege Nyege collective, based near Kampala. The group consists of master drummers Ssentongo Moses, Dratele Epiphany and Luyambi Vicent de Paul. Their debut album Drum Machine, produced by the Portuguese visionary Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, is a dive into dissonant vocals, deep trance and industrial textures. Their next album, a collaboration with Valentina Magaletti and HHY, is expected to be released this autumn. Before and after the concert, Prance & Ike Melchizedek from the collective The Gang is Beautiful will play a back-to-back DJ set. As a B2B formation, they move across a musical spectrum that ranges from afrohouse, amapiano, hip hop and R&B to dancehall, baile funk and kuduro. Hypnotic and bassy! This concert is organised in collaboration with Africadelic, a non-profit organisation dedicated to programming and promoting cultural creativity, diversity and activism from Africa and the African diaspora, and The Gang is Beautiful, a multidisciplinary collective with a focus on fashion, nightlife, music and, above all, community.
