With her flexible, light, lyrical soprano, Nikki Treurniet is an unusually versatile singer. Her concert schedule clearly demonstrates this: in December 2025, in the same week, she sang the soprano solo in Mahler's Eighth Symphony , 'Symphonie der Tausend', with the North Netherlands Orchestra, as well as the Messiah with the Residentie Orchestra and a Bach cantata with the Residentie Bach Choir. And that right after a major tour with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, in which she sang Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro . Speaking of versatility: Nikki also loves singing lieder with pianists such as Thomas Beijer and Daan Boertien. In this lieder recital, she is accompanied by the English pianist Joseph Middleton.

Songs by Clara Schumann, Brahms, and Debussy

In this recital, Nikki Treurniet combines two different worlds: that of the German Lied and that of the French mélodie. Johannes Brahms composed an extensive oeuvre of over 350 songs, in which poetry and music are deeply intertwined. Melancholy is never far away in Brahms' songs. The songs of his close friend Clara Schumann are slightly lighter and more elegant than those of Brahms. Although Clara Schumann stood in the shadow of her husband Robert as a composer, she certainly does not fall short of him in her best songs; on the contrary, in fact… Claude Debussy brought a breath of fresh air to French song art with his atmospheric impressionism, poetry, and refinement.
